Nuther Day - Nuther Dollar

Days seem to pass in a blur. At times I wonder who I am even. There are parts of my life that couldn't be better, and other things...

What is it that makes us happy in life? Is life even supposed to be measured in happiness? What if - what little time we have is being wasted on working 10hrs a day and not living it to the fullest. Why do I feel guilty for having 1 day off a week? As I guess you probably can tell today has been a heavy day for me. Some times I can deal with it, and put on a happy face and go on, other days are harder. I have so many good people in my life that lends support and friendship, I shouldn't complain at all. OK enough already. I'm sure when my number is called, I'll be ready.

Southern-isms

  • Peaches - Georgia has the best peaches, Canada's peaches are for northern people who don't know what a real peach is supposed to taste like.

  • Peanuts - In order to be a true southerner, you must either put peanuts in your bottled Coke, or understand the meaning.

  • Coniption - What your mother has when she finds out your wearing her Sunday hose to go deer hunting in.

  • Bar-B-Q - Pork is the standard.  Chicken and/or beef are eaten at times, but isn't liked as much as pork.  Sauce must be made with vinegar & be orange, anything with sugar or honey classifies as dip and not sauce.

  • Co-Cola - Any carbonated drink in the south.

  • Krispy Kreme - THE best doughnut made

  • Tupperware - A product sold much like Avon that requires ladies having parties and/or bugging you with catalogs.  Items consist mainly of plastic kitchenware.

  • Tractor Pull - Any event that draws more than 500 spectators and involves mud and/or junkyard cars.

  • Kin Folk - Relatives.

  • Soul Food - Not fried chicken as most people above Tennessee may think. Soul food may consist of (but not be limited to): collards, turnips, any part of the pig you would consider inedible,  ox tails, rutabagas, butter roll, corn bread & sweet tea.

  • Coon Hunt'in - A practice of letting 2 to 4 dogs loose in the middle of the night to track a raccoon, the time it takes to "tree" a coon is used to consume alcohol of choice.

  • Snipe Hunt'in - An imaginary animal used to entice girlfriends or naive people to the cemetery with a burlap sack to catch them (the cemetery is the only place they are found, and they also only come out during full moons).

  • Family Reunions - Any gathering of 3 or more siblings and/or cousins with all their kids and each family must bring a covered dish.  Normally there are more dessert dishes than vegetable dishes.  A minimum of 3 barrels of chicken is required.

  • Moon Pie - Lunch during summer breaks while working on the farm.

  • Sweet Tea - 6 Tea bags soaked in a pot of water that has just boiled. A minimum of 3 cups of sugar per gallon is required.  The pitcher must be set in the refrigerator at least an hour before serving so when poured over ice it wont melt the ice and weaken the tea.

  • Aint - How we say we aren't.

  • Y'all - Other variations is You'uns - Meaning a group of people.

  • Bidnis - A place of employment, or where you may go pay your bills.

  • Booger Man - How we make kids mind.

  • Cattycorner - Not laying something straight, crooked.

  • Chicken Fried Steak - A piece of round steak beaten until soft, deep fried with flour and seasoning and toped with sawmill gravy.

  • Sawmill Gravy - Made with the juice of whatever meat you may be cooking, milk flour, salt & pepper.

  • Mash - How you "Push" a button. "Mash that button"

  • Cut - How to "Turn" off an electrical item.  "Cut off the TV"

  • Fixen to - How you describe what your about to do.

  • Grits - Eaten with any breakfast and every Friday night with Catfish.

  • Lace Bread - Its hard to describe, but I love it (some type of cornmeal made bread)

  • Nairey - None.

  • PeaCan - The correct way to pronounce pecan, not pea-khan.

  • Muscadine & Scuppernongs - Grape like fruit grown only in the south.

  • "Where are they at?" - The word at must be used when asking for someones location.

  • Youngun - Babies

Smell This

Do you associate smells & Music with memories? I guess I do. It came up in conversation this weekend, and I got to thinking how we think about the past when listening or smelling something. For instance, here's a short list:

* Coconut Suntan Lotion - Panama City, 1984
* Gloria Vanderbilt - My first crush
* Kentucky Fried Chicken - Mom & Cathy
* Cinnamon - Christmas
* Vanilla - Pam
* Krispy Kreme - MMMMM
* Rick Springfield - Teresa
* Sister Christian, Night Ranger - No idea of her name, but she was in Panama City too, wow
* Big Log, Robert Plant - Pam
* Juke Box Hero, Forigner - Jeff

Lots more, but I guess some are secret. If you want to make a lasting impression on my life, smell good baby!

I like Christian Slater

Not my very favorite actor, but one that is definitely in top of the list. Something about the way he seems like a "guys guy". "True Romance" & "Bed Of ROses" are probably my favorite, but he has lots of others that are great too. Check them out if you get a chance.

Who Knew?

When I was younger, my favorite toy was G.I.Joe I would dream of getting 1 or 2 every Christmas. I had several, but my favorites were the adventure sets, with the vehicles and lots of accessories. Another favorite of mine was the small plastic army men that we could always find so many ways to play with, or should I say battle with. They were also useful for using them as firecracker fodder. The normal type of play with these little guys would be to line them up in offensive or defensive positions and use a superball to knock them over. The "official" rules stated that the only soldiers killed were the one's hit after the first bounce only. This brought hours of enjoyment to my brother and I. Several other toys that I was nerd'd out on were the following:

- Vertibird
- The Thing Maker
- Jarts Oh right, a very safe toy Mom!
- Rockem Sockem Robots
- Battleship

Plus many more, but its late and I'm sleepy.

For future reference, black does not constitute as a "primary" color.

Ah, my desktop. And yes, this is the reason I'm so happy today! Will write later, for now, pizza & beer! Posted by Hello

The sun even shines on a dog's ass some days

I am sure BLOGing has caused me problems in the past; how, you may ask? Well trust me, it has. I open myself up to all kinds of involuntary incite here (sure, by my own doing). I am an asshole, but I guess everyone is at times. I do have feelings, but doesn't the next guy? Where is this going? WTF knows. I just know it seems every time I find or do something good, I manage to fuck it up. Maybe its cause I care too much, hell maybe its cause I don't care enough. I wonder at times where I'm going or where I even came from. I am getting to a point in my life where my past is a lot easier to look at than my future, that's sad, that's got to change. There are good things in my life now. And I'm going to try the best way I can to figure up how not to screw that up, yet again. Help me.

Still Here

Well, it wasn't as bad as Frances, which surprised a lot of people. At least for us here anyway. I know there is a lot of damage in Alabama and Florida, but kind of went around us. No power for 3 or 4 hours, no real big deal. Now lets get ready for Jeanne.

My daughter was selling candy for her band at school. I took the book to work and let the ladies pass it around and ended up selling a couple of sheets worth of stuff. So anyway, it was delivered the other day, now I gotta lug all of it to work and collect money for it, sheesh.

Hmmmm, not a lot to talk about. Guess I shall go finish watching my movie. Goodnight.

The Calm Before The Storm

Today was eerie, grey out and a lot of clouds, but no rain, just cool strong winds. Ivan has decided to take his time in getting here. And I'm afraid he will be taking his time to leave too. From the news tonight, the eye has hit Panama City, and I am roughly 130 miles away. Preparations are being made, but some things you just miss whether your prepared or not. Here is a good site for info if you live anywhere in the southeast USA.

I held a meeting with all my employees this afternoon and told them we were still scheduled to work tomorrow, but all the local schools have cancelled the next 2 days. The shop has been readied for the worst, and my house has been checked. Lets rock and roll...

What I'm listing to now: The Storm - I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love (how fitting)

The Cable Guy

So our cable service was interrupted last month. In other words, they cut our shit off cause we didn't pay it on time. I hate when that happens, especially when the damn money is in the bank! But what qualifies my cable being cut off to be a Blog subject is what happened afterwards. I'm getting home and sit down to check the email, no service, I go to the TV to check out the news, fuzzzz, BASTARDS! About that same time, I get a call from the "the cable guy", he tells me that he will hook us back up and is sitting right outside. Hmmm, This is something new to me, so I say come on in. He tells me that it will be a $15 reconnect fee, plus the megabucks we owe for the months service. I was totally unaware of what the checking account balance was, and had no idea what kind of checks had been written up to that point. So I tell him, dude let me call my wife and I'll get back to ya on this one. So I call her and find out what the balance is and determine I can pay the bill, and the dude calls and asks if I'm ready to be cut on, um yeah I guess, but cant I pay this over the phone with my debit card, well, yeah you can, but then I'll just have to come back and cut it on, and it will take much longer. Is there still a reconnect charge? Yup! Shit, I HATE reconnect charges, money wasted. I'm still skeptical about the whole thing, so I tell him we don't have money to pay it, screw you cable guy bastard! So I get the cable company on the phone and guess what, if you pay on the phone there is no reconnect fee - Oh SHIT, I'm mad now, I HATE being lied to, with a passion. I find out that they don't actually cut anything on, they just are contractors that basically run around and collect. I am tempted not to pay this month just so I can scare the shit outta the guy. Who, me body slam the scrawny cable guy's ass, that wasn't me your honor!

Monday Night Football

Yes, I watched, but was a little late getting there & wasn't able to stay up the whole game. Greenbay won 24-14.

Enya - Only Time
Is this song beautiful or what? Yeah I like rock, but that doesn't mean I would find making love to this song totally unreal. Candles, Music and a nice Chardonnay.

A part of my heart is gone now forever. But I feel like I did, or am doing the right thing, for everyone involved. I feel clear about that at least. A weight lifted, and a page turned.

Thanks for listening to me, and understanding.

Robbie Williams - Feel

Come on hold my hand
I wanna contact the living
Not sure I understand
This role I've been given

I sit and talk to God
And he just laughs at my plans
My head speaks a language
I don't understand

I just wanna feel real love
Feel the home that I live in
'Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste

I don't wanna die
But I ain't keen on living either
Before I fall in love
I'm preparing to leave her

I Scare myself to death
That's why I keep on running
Before I've arrived
I can see myself coming

I just wanna feel real love
Feel the home that I live in
'Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste

And I need to feel real love
And a life ever after
I cannot give it up

I just wanna feel real love
Feel the home that I live in
I got too much love
Running through my veins
To go to waste

I just wanna feel real love
In the life ever after
There's a hole in my soul
You can see it in my face
It's a real big place

Teary
Since that day
Forever
Feel

Come and hold my hand
I wanna contact the living
Not sure I understand
This role I've been given
Not sure I understand
Not sure I understand
Not sure I understand
Not sure I understand

Bubba the Sex Werewolf!

Hey, I ordered my 200GB hard drive today, Cant wait to get it, I even had it shipped express! Gotta start downloading more MP3s! And no, you won't be reading about me in the news, cuz I'm the dreaded LECHER! Screw you bastards!

You POGO challenge masters can lick the crack of my ass! No I didn't think that up all by myself, had plenty of help thank you! If you have any doubt that I'm over reacting, just go there and tell me how long it takes you to win 50 games of freecell.

I won't even type my feelings now, I think they are very obvious. I tend to do and say and think stupid shit. I'm not a refined person, and my problem is I'm just smart enough to realize that, but too dumb to do anything about it. I wish things were different sometimes. But then who hasn't ever thought that? My life is turning its pages, going to the next chapter. I just hope the book is worth reading by the time I get to the end.

Full moon in the peanut field. Any takers???

Our Lady Peace - Life

How many times have you been pushed around
was anybody there
does anybody care
and how many times have your friends let you down
was anybody there
did anybody stare
how many times have your friends let you down
just open up your heart
just open up your mind
and how many times has your faith slipped away
well is anybody safe
does anybody pray
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we'll survive
how many days have you just slept away
is everybody high
is everyone afraid
how many times have you wished you were strong
have they ever seen your heart
have they ever seen your pain
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we'll survive
she gets high
she gets lost
she gets drowned by the cost
twice a day
every week
in all her life
she gets high
she gets lost
she gets drowned by the cost
twice a day
every week
in all her life
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we'll survive
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
its all messed up but we're alive
its all messed up but we'll survive
its all messed up but we're alive
its all messed up but i will
i will survive
